Hello and welcome!
I'm starting this blog to share my ongoing journey with mindfulness, meditation, and Buddhist teachings, inspired by my visits to LP Chalee Hermitage, a meditation center. Attending meditation, listening to Pra Bryan's teachings, and participating in the simple act of offering food to the monks has given me a sense of calm, reflection, and perspective that I want to explore and share.
Buddhist teachings can be challenging to understand, and applying them in daily life is not always easy. One practice I find particularly grounding is the Five Remembrances, which invite us to reflect on the nature of life:
I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old.
I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape sickness.
I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death.
I am of the nature to experience the results of my actions. The consequences of my actions (or karma) are my true possessions
I am of the nature to be separated from all that I love and cherish. There is no way to escape this separation. When I die, the consequences of my actions continue to unfold.
Reflecting on these truths helps me cultivate mindfulness, gratitude, and acceptance, and reminds me that life is fragile and precious.
Through this blog, I hope to share a weekly audio teaching, my reflections as I explore the teachings, observe their application in daily life, and learn from both clarity and confusion along the way. Whether you are new to meditation, returning to practice (like me), or simply curious about mindfulness, I invite you to join me - one mindful step at a time.
